A little History
Samsung Group was founded by Lee Byung-chul in 1938 and was incorporated as Samsung Corporation in 1951. In 1969 Samsung Electronics was founded as Samsung Electric Industries in Daegu, South Korea.
Samsung as we know it literally means "three stars" or "tristar" in Korean. Samsung Electric originally manufacturing electronic appliances such as TVs, calculators, refrigerators, air conditioners and washers. After its merger with Samsung Semiconductor & Communications in 1988, Samsung Electric focuses in five business areas like Digital Media, Telecommunication Network, Digital Appliance, Semiconductor, and LCD.
Manufacturing and developing computer devices such as laptop computers, home applicances such as refrigerators, televisions, DVD players, MP3 players and many more, semiconductor chips and LCD. Samsung also ventures into manufacturing the most wanted and hottest product on the market today, PDA phones and mobile phones.
Samsung cell phones are generally in the flip form factor. They have both CDMA and GSM cell phones and, generally, GSM cell phones can accept custom ringtones and graphics, but it's not always the case of CDMA phones which they occasionaly produce.
