It all started for the Beatles back to March 1957, when John Lennon and his childhood friend, Pete Shotton started a group called "The Black Jacks" to play Skiffle and America Rock and Roll. They soon change the name to "The Quarry Men". Their gigs were mostly neighborhood events. On Aug 18th, 1960, posing as students, The Beatles began a series of gigs in Hamburg, and John renamed the group The Beatles.
Considered as the most influential rock band of all time, their clothes, styles, and statements made them trend-setters, while their growing social awareness saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions. This band from Liverpool, England was formed in 1960 consisting of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals). Several drummers went through before Ringo Starr joined the band just weeks before they recorded their single “Love Me Do.
The Beatles took the world by storm during their time. They were unquestionably the most popular and most accomplished band of their decade. They are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music, selling over a billion records internationally.
The end of the Beatles era came while the group was still on top, unlike most other bands in history. Today, millions of people around the world still cherished the band's library of what seems like countless hits.
