Alicia Keys (Alicia Augello Cook in real life) was born on January 25, 1981. Her parents are Teresa "Terri" Augello and Craig Cook, separated during her early childhood. She grew up in Hell’s Kitchen, New York and was subsequently raised by her mother during her formative years.
Alicia began her career at the age of four with a role in the "Wizard of Oz". She is a true musical prodigy whose multi-dimensional gifts emerged at a very early age. She attended the Professional Performing Arts High School and rehearsed with vocal coach Conrad Robinson at the Harlem Police Athletic League Community center until at age 16.
Completing high school at 16, she entered Columbia University, and continued her studies in music, writing and performing. By combining these talents, she is destined to become a superstar. She has won numerous awards, including nine Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, and three American Music Awards.
